I'm gay, but why don't gay people let me live my own life?

In a few weeks I will have to see some of my old friends from my past modelling career, i'm not looking forward to it, as all the gay guys and fag hags kept trying to change me, they wanted me to look and act gay, but I feel there is nothing wrong with how I look and act, I have good fashion sense, but they told me my look was too 'jock' like, they also wanted me to act all flamboyant, when my personality is more laid back, and I'm happy being like that, I don't want to be someone who turns every little thing into a huge drama. Also, I love rock music (hard, alternative, indie), but they were all telling me to like Kylie Minogue and stuff like that, and I'm not into her music. They were also telling me to go to gay bars only, even though I like going to nightclubs, and am not into the whole gay scene. Has anyone else had this problem?
